We are very pleased to announce that the Rathskeller is open for business, so do come along and sample the fine selection of wines and ales that will be on offer in our new wine bar, located in the Undercroft of the historic Hanse House here on the quay. We will also be offering champagne by the glass if you feel like celebrating!
The Indoor Market continues to trade daily from the Lubeck Room, with a wide variety of products and produce on offer from local, independent enterprises, so do come along and show them some support! The Tea Room in the indoor market is also up and running, serving a great selection of hot drinks and snacks.
Hanse House Wedding Fayre
We are also staging our very first Wedding Fayre on Sunday, 24th November. We have a wide range of exciting local businesses offering a distinctive range of goods and services for your wedding day, and while you’re here you can also take a look at our carefully restored ceremony and function rooms.
Hanse House is a Grade 1 listed building and the only surviving hanseatic warehouse in England. Since its original construction in around 1480 the building has been variously altered and extended to meet the diverse needs of successive occupants; this adaptability is fundamental to its survival into the 21st Century and beyond.
The building has been in private ownership since November 2011, the successful bidder having being selected by NCC on a number of factors, not least their proposed uses for the building. Following consultation with the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, English Heritage and other interested parties the proposals were granted planning permission at the end of July 2012, and we are pleased to say the next chapter in the story of the Hanse House is underway!
