This condition of this notable building had sadly deteriorated prior to change of ownership; the cupola had been removed and the area in which it stood boarded over, leading to a leaky roof and water damage. Upon purchase the fine cupola was fully repaired and reinstated, returning the building to its former glory and protecting it from the elements; this delicate job was made even more difficult by the weather, as on the day it was reinstalled there was heavy snow! A complete and sensitive refurbishment of the whole building has resulted in a large shop and town centre flats, both with modern amenities and character features. Successful local business Deck of Cards occupies the shop, making a positive contribution to the High Street with eye-catching window displays and a wide range of stock.
